HISTORICAL ICONS
Nik Baeyens has always been drawn to people who leave a trace—not just the history-book kind, but those who marked the world by simply being unapologetically themselves. Think Marilyn Monroe's magnetic ease or Julius Caesar's steel-eyed presence. They weren't just famous—they were unforgettable. Their energy still lingers, like perfume in a room long after they've left.
This series is Nik's tribute to them. Each portrait is hand-painted and hand-pulled in silkscreen—layered, tactile, and intentionally imperfect. There's Marilyn, reimagined with bold laser-cut branded glasses adding a pop of relief, or printed on a stretched Goyard bag—because timeless icons deserve a wardrobe refresh. Caesar? He's caught with a flower between his teeth. Even emperors need to let go sometimes.
With this work, Nik blends classical presence with a pop attitude, injecting humor where you least expect it. It's a conversation across centuries, where silk screens meet symbols, and personality beats perfection. Pop art gave him the tools, but it's storytelling and satire that bring it to life.
Call it irreverence, call it homage. For Nik, it's all love—for the iconic, the flawed, the unforgettable.
